learning to fly

Over the course of 2024, I set out to create something truly meaningful to myself. An exploration of the country I call home: Japan. Seeing sides that I had never had the opportunity to, while deepening my understanding of the complicated relationship I have with where I come from. From the planning, to the filming, the writing and editing, all done on my own. By far my biggest project yet, telling the story of my ever evolving relationship with Japan.

Filmed over the course of the summer, and edited during the fall semester of my senior year, learning to fly worked as my thesis film, symbolizing the progress I've made in filmmaking during my time as a college student.
